Hampshire is rich in culture and full of attractions. From historic cities to mordern architechture, walks in the countryside to lazy days by the water. Hampshire offers something for everyone. Here are a few of the highlites.

South Downs National Park

 

The South Downs National Park is England's newest. It became a National Park in April 2011.

The park starts in Winchester and tracks across the southcoast to Eastbourne in East Sussex. The Apartments are right on th edge of the National Park making it the perfect base for anyone wishing to discover its many attractions.

Portsmouth & Southsea

Home of the Historic Dockyard and Spinnaker Tower. Portsmouth is rich in maritime history. With attractions such as the Royal Marines Museum, D Day Museum, Fort Nelson, City Museum, Cumberland House Natural History Museum, Dickens Birthplace Museum.

Portsmouth has quick and easy links to the Isle of Wight by hovercraft or ferry and outlet shopping, restuarants and attractions at Gunwharf Quays.

Winchester

Winchester

 

Winchester was the historical capital of Wessex, which became the starting point of a unified England under King Alfred the Great

It is now a thriving city with many independent shops and restuarants. It is home to a beautiful cathedral, the Hospital of St Cross, the Royal Green Jackets Museum, The Gurkha Museum, The Royal Hampshire Museum, Winchester City Mill and many more attractions.

Marwell Zoological Park is nearby in Colden Common and the Watercress Steam Railway line at Alresford

Southampton

 

Southampton is a port city and home to the annual  Boat Show and Thai Festival amongst other yearly activities. It is also a base for many cruise liners with ships arriving and leaving regularly for destinations around the world.

You will fnd the Solent Sky and SeaCity Museums, Tudor House and Gardens in town, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Bucklers Hard, Royal Victoria County Park and Exbury Gardens are nearby.

There are ferries leaving for the Isle of Wight on a regular basis.

There are some lovely towns and villages in Hampshire including Bishops Waltham (3 miles away) and Wickham (2.5 miles away).

If you like walking or cycling there are some great tracks and bridal ways locally or along disused railway lines or through forests such as the Bere Forest, Itchen Valley Country Park, Queen Elizabeth Country Park and many more beautiful locations.

 

Being close to the coast there are some lovely harbours and inlets to meander through as well as some cliff walking if you are up for it.
